Description: The course is designed to acquaint students with the principles of ethical behavior and expose them to the current ethical dilemma faced by media practitioners. It also aims to train them in moral reasoning or making ethical decisions.

Oral report format:

1. Three (3) members per group

2. Choose one of the oral report topics and propose an ethical dilemma related to it. Submit an outline that contains:  

  1. The specific ethical dilemma you want to discuss
  2. Why is this an ethical dilemma
  3. Cite specific sources/readings that demonstrate that it is an ethical dilemma (e.g. specific points in the Code of Ethics, other related literature)
  4. Identify the principles it highlights or violates
  5. Specific Philippine example   

 

3. If the topic is approved, then the group should prepare both a written report and a 30-40 minute oral report on their topic on the scheduled day. The report should:

     a. begin with an overview of the dilemma

     b. then discuss the dilemma as outlined above.

 

Final report format:

1. Should be the long form of the Oral Report. It should include:

2. IT should contain the specific ethical dilemma you want to discuss

  1. Why is this an ethical dilemma
  2. Related Literature: specific sources/readings that demonstrate that it is an ethical dilemma (e.g. specific points in the Code of Ethics, other related literature)
  3. 1st hand sources/interviews to support arguments
  4. Identify the principles it highlights or violates
  5. Give specific Philippine example  

3. Required length, 12-20 pages, typewritten, double space.  

4. Date due: on or before October 2, 2009 at 5pm.
